Two In Court Over Dalglish Home Grenade
Posted on: Thursday - Jul 30, 2009

The live device was left on the garden wall of the former Liverpool manager's house in Southport, Merseyside.

The incident is not being treated as an attack on Mr Dalglish or his family.

The explosive device was found by police searching the local area as part of investigations into an incident which was not connected to the Scottish star.

The army's bomb disposal team were called to the house, in Selworthy Road, Birkdale, and the area was cordoned off for the public's safety until the grenade was taken away for forensic examinations.

Nobody was injured in the incident and it is not known if anybody was at the Dalglish home at the time.

Yesterday police released CCTV images of men they wanted to speak to in connection with the incident.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said today two men have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Simon Lewis Ignacio, 28, of no fixed abode and Carl Higgins, 29, of Helston Green, Huyton-with-Roby, Merseyside, will appear at South Sefton Magistrates' court in Bootle later.

It was announced earlier this month that Dalglish, who lives at the house with his wife Marina, was resuming his Anfield career with a senior role at Liverpool's Academy.
